Favorite Sketchbooks?
Sketchbooks used to be one of my biggest impulse buys. My closet housed shelves upon shelves of books, nearly all of them blank save for the first few pages. In approximately 2005, that changed when I found a sketchbook that is still my all-time favorite.

What is it? It’s not a sketchbook at all, but a Roaring Springs hardbound “Edison” lab notebook with 96 quad-lined pages. I found out today that this exact book no longer exists, but Amazon sells a nearly identical one made by a company called “Rediform”.
Why do you like it? My sketchbooks tend to take a lot of abuse, so the hardbound option adds a great durability bonus. The graph paper is great for several reasons: It makes it easy to write and take notes alongside my drawings, it helps me gauge proportions for both architectural and organic sketches, and it’s easy for my brain to turn the grid into white noise in the event that I don’t need it for anything at all. The pages are thin, yet incredibly bleed-resistant (although I don’t recommend using felt-tip pens).

Who do you recommend it to? I use this book mostly for detailed pen drawings, and it’s great for that. The pages have virtually no texture to them, but I like the way they react with Prismacolor pencils and even acrylic paints. I would not recommend using this book in conjunction with media that smudge easily.
I’m dying to hear about other peoples’ sketchbooks, so reblog this with your own answers/pictures and show me!
